Message 100% not saying that Ash does but if you've ever known someone who had a problem, they can be masters at hiding it early on. Eventually though, you'll start to see signs. Taken right off the About.com page about "Warning signs of Drug Abuse":

# withdrawal from responsibilities
# constant excuses for behavior
# disappearance of valuable items or money
# not telling you where they are going
# over-reacts to criticism acts rebellious
# lies about activities
# verbally or physically abusive
